The biggest DC event that you've never heard of - Booster's a dad!

Oh, the ironyEveryone's all over Wonder Woman getting a new pair of pants. So what? I buy new pants once or twice a year. But no one seems to notice that Booster Gold has become a daddy. And I don't mean Rip Hunter, either. People, this is a big deal!*

In Booster Gold #32, Booster accidentally ends up on planet during the fall of the planet Daxam because Rip Hunter has terrible handwriting. During a futile attempt to protect the locals from Darkseid, he bonds with a Daxamite preschooler named Rani, impulsively and instinctively adopting her. And then he goes into denial about the fact that that's what he's done. He just happens to have a four year old in his secret base! He's not parent material. Nope.

The number of levels on which this is hilarious, messed up, and sort of touching just keeps building up, the more you think about it. Rip Hunter, the "Time Master" who has recruited Booster to help him save the world via time travel is actually Booster's son from the future - not that Booster knows that. What Booster reads as Rip being an impossible to please martinet is really more like "Oh my god, dad, you're embaressing me, I can't believe we're related" with a good dose of "You're not the boss of me anymore".

Meanwhile, Rani has her own ideas of where Rip fits in her new family - she's dubbed him "Boppy" which is what she called her grandfather. And Rip's only about ten years older than his father! Booster. Whatever.

And then Booster's sister pops back out of the woodwork and declares herself "Aunt Michelle". She's absolutely thrilled to have a new niece - and cheerfully indulging in schadenfreude at her brother's expense.

Did I mention that Daxamites are pretty much the same thing as Kryptonians, so in a few years Booster is going to be wrangling a kid with Superman powers? That's going to be comedy gold.

As long as they don't pull a Lian Harper. (You'd better not. You think people got mad when you were just fridging adults? Hah, you have yet to see full on nuclear fan-rage.)

If you think that's bad, Booster, wait until she can lift your car.

Rip must be flashing back to his childhood. You just know they've had this argument many times before in Rip's past and Booster's future.

*Yes, there's also an ongoing plot tying into the beginning of Justice League: Generation Lost, including Booster temporarily replacing his younger self during the years that the JLI was active and Ted Kord was alive, but that's more in the nature of heartbreaking, and less BOOSTER HAS A KID! Which is what this post is about.
